I altered a vintage mumu into a lovely dress for summer. This mumu was inherited from my grandmother, and it needed a makeover to fit me.

So much trial and error on this project! I considered so many different possibilities before landing on a twisted bandeau style for the bodice. It zips in the back and the shoulder straps are adjustable. *and* it has pockets, which I believe should be mandatory for all dresses.

I removed the top half of the dress, keeping the skirt. In order to make the bodice, I had to crazy quilt all of the smaller pieces together to make a larger piece for coverage. Fortunately I was able to use the original zipper.

The end result is the perfect outfit when strumming my ukulele on the front porch.
